What is the Locarno Film Festival Digital Library?
The Digital Library is a secure and exclusive platform accessible to accredited Press members and Industry professionals, offering the convenient opportunity to watch online part of the titles featured in the Official Selection and parallel sections of the Locarno Film Festival.
How long will it be available?
The Digital Library will be available from August 6 to August 31, 2024.
When will the films be available?
The availability of a film depends on the Festival section in which it is selected and/or on specific directives given by the right holders. The individual availability dates are specified in each film card:
- Piazza Grande, Concorso Internazionale, Concorso Cineasti del Presente, Panorama Suisse, Semaine de la Critique, First Look, Heritage Online Screenings
Availability starts only after the first official screening of the film at the Festival and ends on August 31, 2024 at 11:59 PM. - Fuori Concorso, Locarno Kids Screenings (premieres only)
Availability starts 24 hours before the first official screening of the film at the Festival and ends on August 31, 2024 at 11:59 PM.
Please note that a press embargo is requested for all forms of articles (print, web, radio, TV, social media, and any other media) until 30 minutes after the start of the first official screening at the Festival. The precise end time and date of a film’s embargo is indicated in the film details. - Pardi di Domani, Open Doors Screenings
Availability starts on August 6, 2024 at 3:30 PM and ends on August 31, 2024 at 11:59 PM.
Please note that a press embargo is requested for all forms of articles (print, web, radio, TV, social media, and any other media) until 30 minutes after the start of the first official screening at the Festival. The precise end time and date of a film’s embargo is indicated in the film details.
Can I publish an article or post about a film which is available on the Digital Library, but has not been publicly screened at the Festival yet?
No, you cannot. For films available on the Digital Library prior to their official screening at the Festival (such as Fuori Concorso, Locarno Kids Screenings, Pardi di Domani, and Open Doors Screenings sections), a press embargo is requested for all forms of articles (print, web, radio, TV, social media, and any other media) until 30 minutes after the start of the first official screening at the Festival. The precise end date and time of a film’s embargo is indicated in the film details.
Which films are available on the Digital Library?
See the full list of available films or explore each Festival’s section page.
Please note that First Look selected Works in Progress and Heritage Online Screenings are accessible only to Industry or Industry Online Users.
Is there a way of bookmarking the films that I want to watch later?
Yes, if you hover over the film image, you can click on the “Add to my list” bookmark symbol. All your flagged films will be available in the My List section in your account menu. However, be aware of their availability dates.
I got a notification that I have reached the maximum limit of devices. What should I do?
In your account menu, go to My Devices and remove one of your active devices before logging into a new one.
Please be aware that:
- you can remove 1 device every 10 days.
- if you are using Google Chrome and have activated the option to ‘Delete data sites have saved to your device when you close all windows’ you might encounter an issue where you reach the maximum devices limit because each login is registered as a new device. To avoid this, you will need to disable this option while using the Digital Library.
- if you are using a VPN, you might encounter an issue where each login is registered as a new device, causing you to reach the maximum devices limit. To avoid this, you will need to turn off the VPN while using the Digital Library.
